President and founder of Tri-National, Inc., Robert Rogulic, has worked to grow his company into a premier NAFTA transportation provider. Robert Rogulic supports a number of charitable causes, including the Kilo Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to finding a cure for diabetes. For over 37 years, the Kilo Foundation has been raising money to fund important research taking place at the Kilo Laboratory at the Washington University School of Medicine. This research is focused on finding a cure for diabetes and promoting the health and well-being of those who are suffering from the disease. The scientists and doctors at the Kilo Foundation also work to provide medical professionals with current information regarding the best approaches to treatment. When a patient receives a diagnosis of diabetes, it can be one of three types: Type I, Type II, and pre-diabetes. The diagnosis is determined by a number of tests. When a patient’s test results show an elevated blood sugar level that is beyond normal, but not within a diabetic range, he or she will often be diagnosed with prediabetes. Over 86 million Americans suffer from prediabetes. With lifestyle changes, this diagnosis does not mean that a future type I diagnoses is inevitable. Medical professionals recommend that pre-diabetic patients take the following steps to reduce the risk of problems in the future: - Reduce weight- even a five to ten percent decrease in weight can make a big difference in a patient’s overall health. - Exercise - 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise each day is currently recommended. - Improve general nutrition - a diet that is low in sugar and starchy carbs, but high in vegetables, low-fat proteins, and whole grains can bring about noticeable changes.
