The CEO, president, and founder of Tri-National, Inc., a transportation provider based in St. Louis, Missouri, Robert Rogulic leads a team of executives with more than 90 years of combined leadership experience. Dedicated to supporting his community, Robert Rogulic and his company support the Kilo Diabetes Foundation through an annual donation of over $10,000. Beyond supporting the discovery of a cure for diabetes, the Kilo Diabetes Foundation shares information about such topics as blood glucose control. Controlling blood glucose levels is the best-known treatment for diabetes at this point. Without it, people risk numerous complications related to diabetes, such as kidney disease, heart attacks, strokes, and nerve damage. They also risk having their diabetes grow out of control and develop into metabolic cancer. Most people with diabetes check their blood glucose levels one to four times per day, depending on the severity of their case and the recommendations of their physician. This is most commonly done using a blood glucose meter. Based on the results of blood glucose measurements, people may need to alter their exercise plan, meal plan, or medication. Urine tests are another way to test blood glucose levels. These types of tests measure the level of ketones in a person’s urine. Too many ketones means the body is not producing enough insulin and leaves people more open to illnesses. Moderate to large amounts of ketones are a cause for concern and may indicate a person has ketoacidosis, a serious condition that can be fatal if untreated. The hemoglobin A1C test also provides individuals with information about their blood glucose levels over the past three months. Physicians must perform this test, so it is not good for frequent use. Rather, most people get A1C tests once or twice a year. At most, they may get these types of tests every three months to get the most accurate idea of what their blood glucose levels look like throughout the year.

Tri-National Incorporated founder and CEO Robert Rogulic is a leader in truckload shipping and logistics across North America. Alongside its commitment to clients, Robert Rogulic's shipping firm maintains a commitment to charity through its support of the Kilo Diabetes & Vascular Research Foundation.
The Kilo Diabetes & Vascular Research Foundation was established by St. Louis-based researchers Dr. Charles Kilo and Dr. Joseph R. Williamson in 1972. These scientists held the then-controversial opinion that managing blood sugar levels would prove effective in delaying the complications of diabetes. Their research team pioneered studies that supported this position, which is now shared by the American Diabetes Association and physicians around the globe. Since this initial breakthrough, the Kilo Laboratory has made significant progress in diabetes treatment, including a notable success with mice in clinical trials. The laboratory became the world's first to demonstrate evidence of a possible Type 1 cure in mice, which may lead to an increased understanding of diabetes as well as certain autoimmune diseases in humans. |
